Merchant Remit
Features & Functions
End-to-end processing
Merchant Remit, a check imaging and remote deposit software application, starts with capturing images of checks and/or coupons either in single or multiple locations. Items captured at remote locations can be easily be consolidated to a central server location. Once captured, transactions can be repaired, balanced, sorted, stored in an on-line archive, extracted to an account receivable posting file and prepared for image deposit to bank(s) of your choice.
Multiple document input capture
Merchant Remit supports traditional retail remittance and lockbox for checks only, checks with payment stubs or coupons and multiple transaction documents. Merchant Remit also offers the sophistication demanded for wholesale remittance and lockbox operations supporting large payment documents including full page list items, tax forms, multi-page documents and other specialized large forms.

Merchant Remit's Project Builder module is an easy to use tool for defining the business rules of how Merchant Remit processes specific lines of business and jobs. For high volume remittance and lockbox service providers, Merchant Remit supports an unlimited number of customers, lines of business and job types. Processing rules are defined by job elements including, batch types, document types, scan-lines, scan-fields, check digit routines, check endorsements, field types, indexes and search criteria.
Effects of Check 21 legislation
With the recent passage of Check 21 legislation clearing checks using images is becoming a reality. To facilitate all possible bank clearing methodologies, Merchant Remit provides electronic conversions to Automated Clearing House "ACH" formats and digital and IRD Check 21 X9.37 standard formats.

Architecture and device independence
Offering stability, ease of use and flexibility, Merchant Remit is based on an N-tier open architecture running on Windows .NET technology. Designed to adapt to any business environment, Merchant Remit is sorter, encoder and scanner independent and is interfaced to more than 40 types of capture devices that offer a large range of speeds and capabilities. It supports products from leading name companies including: AIM, Buik, Canon, CTS, Digital Check, Fujitsu, Kleindienst, NCR, Opex, Panini, Seac and Unisys.
Recognition technologies
Merchant Remit incorporates recognition technologies including: magnetic ink character recognition (MICR), optical character recognition (OCR), barcode and courtesy amount recognition and legal amount recognition (CAR/LAR). These technologies improve speed and accuracy in the capture process and result in major savings in data entry/processing time, error reduction and balancing routines.
Smart balancing
Merchant Remit provides smart balancing through the use of system rules, split screen viewing of transactions and correction from image. Each transaction is verified twice. Balanced transactions are marked completed while out-of-balance transactions are presented for correction.
Smart account linking
Merchant Remit's smart account linking feature enhances processing efficiencies. Checks presented with payments can be automatically checked against data provided from a host system to catch suspicious, hold, stop-payment and payment denied accounts. After a check has been processed and linked to an account number, future checks without stubs can be automatically linked to the same account using the same information, eliminating additional data entry on future checks received on the same account.
Multiple day/job processing
Merchant Remit supports multiple day and multiple job processing. For scalability and flexibility, capture devices can be added as needed and each device can run different jobs simultaneously.
Key-from-image
Merchant Remit's high-speed key-from-image feature greatly enhances operator efficiency and reduces costs. Items requiring key strokes can be automatically queued and distributed to multiple operators to ensure optimum speed of data entry. The system also supports keying from remote locations to balance workloads at peak times.
Image archive and research
Merchant Remit's on-line image-based archive and research feature provides the power to respond quickly and accurately to customer inquiries. The fronts and backs of all checks and remittance documents are available for highspeed research and viewing. Searchable indexes are established through Project Builder at a job, document type and field level. A thumbnail presentation of the item hit list enhances research navigation. The volume of archived digital check images and data maintained online is limited only by hardware capacity.
Accounting system interfaces
Merchant Remit's transaction files interface with accounts receivable applications from leading business accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), Solomon, Peachtree, Quickbooks and more.
CD/DVD burning
Merchant Remit provides the ability to burn images and data together with Merchant Remit's Archive View software to CDs or DVDs for backups, offsite distribution and standalone digital image archive.
