The Goldleaf Customer Experience
Southold, NY-based Sea Tow Services International Inc. selected Goldleaf's "Merchant Remit," remittance processing solution, to automatically handle the processing of payments and coupons received from its membership of more than 170,000 recreational boaters.
Sea Tow has more than 121 franchise locations throughout the United States, Australia, Europe, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, and nearly 1,000 personnel available 24 hours a day to assist its members. As a fast-growing, membership-based business, Sea Tow was bombarded with large volumes of membership payments to be processed in a timely manner and simply could no longer keep up using existing systems. The payments were processed on outdated check-scanning hardware and software combined with the manual efforts of several persons. After consulting with its bank, Bridgehampton National Bank, for a solution, Sea Tow was referred to Goldleaf.
Sea Tow Controller, Jim Foley, states, "We liked the ability to not only modify Goldleaf's remittance solution to fit our current business processes but also to build on the solution as we grow. Although the large majority of our payments are made by check with a remittance stub, we do receive some credit card payments. Goldleaf accommodated our need for a credit card module, and it has exceeded our expectations. The Check 21 functionality of this system—to create an X9.37 file for deposit—increased efficiencies for us and the bank and shortens the float for out-of-state checks. Perhaps the biggest advantage is that the remittance processing which previously required three or four persons, now requires one. We're very happy with the business solution Goldleaf's remittance product has provided us and the help from their implementation and support team. We look forward to the continued relationship with Goldleaf as our business needs evolve."
