Frequently Asked Questions About
Digital-to-Digital Conversion

Two imaging systems

We have an old imaging system that we purchased in 1997 and a new one in 2003. Our accounting department now has to do research across two systems, which is not efficient or cost-effective. Is there a better way?
Roll the images from the old system into the new one. Goldleaf can convert the old images into plain TIFF images, and their associated indexes can be converted to an ASCII format. Your new system will be able to import the old images and indexes into the new system.

Old optical drives fail

We have documents and reports stored on old optical drives, tapes and CDs. The optical drives keep failing. Any ideas?
We can migrate the contents of the old media onto higher density, new media that can be read by the latest technology.

Unreadable media

We recently received a court subpoena for documents we have stored on old optical disks. We cannot read the disks. Either the drive is dead or the media is bad. Can you help?
Send us the optical disks. We will convert the content to TIFFs or PDF so any computer system can read them.

Unconventional compression routines

Our accounting department has about 1,500,000 document images stored on old 12-inch optical platters in a proprietary format with an unusual compression routine. Will I have to re-scan and re-index these documents into the new system we purchased?
Goldleaf has the technical expertise to crack any unconventional compression routines and render the images in standard TIFF format. We can covert the associated indexes to an ASCII text file. The resulting output should easily import into your new system.

Maintenance costs on old systems

We are absorbing costs for software and hardware maintenance on an old imaging system we use only once a month. Is there an alternative to paying maintenance on both my old and new systems?
You can shut the old system down and eliminate the maintenance fees on the old system entirely by having Goldleaf convert the images to standard TIFF format and the associated indexes to ASCII text that will import into your current system. The cost of the conversion service will typically be less than one year's maintenance.

Test conversions

How can we be assured Goldleaf can actually convert our information to a format we can use?
Before you contract with us, send us a sample of the content you want converted, and we will process and return it to you at no charge.

Accuracy of converted content

How do I know all the content and media we sent in actually got converted?
Goldleaf maintains a rigorous and comprehensive quality assurance process. This gives clients the assurance that all content intended for conversion was actually converted. And conversely, any specific content not converted is reported as exceptions.
